French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed on Sunday that a second unexploded shell was found at an illegal rave party held at a military site in central France. The discovery occurred in Cornusse, near Bourges, in the commune of Bengy-sur-Craon.
Incident Details
The rave, known as a 'teknival,' was organized without authorization on a former military training area. Authorities were alerted after the first shell was discovered, prompting an investigation. During a search of the premises, a second unexploded ordnance was located.
Minister's Response
Minister Nunez, accompanied by Cher Prefect Philippe Le Moing Surzur, toured the site to assess the situation. He emphasized the dangers of such gatherings on military grounds, which may still contain unexploded munitions. The area has been cordoned off, and bomb disposal experts are working to safely remove the shells.
No injuries have been reported, but the incident raises concerns about the risks posed by illegal raves in potentially hazardous locations. Authorities are investigating how the organizers gained access to the site and whether any charges will be filed.
