White House chief of staff Susie Wiles launched a new X account on Tuesday with a post in which she said she welcomes "different viewpoints" — and quickly got plenty of them in reply. The senior Trump aide was flooded with responses as critics from across the political spectrum slammed various elements of Donald Trump's agenda.
Mixed Reactions from Critics and Supporters
Some accused the Trump White House of, in some ways, going too far. Others, including many of Trump's own MAGA supporters, argued it hasn't gone far enough, particularly when it comes to immigration enforcement.
Wiles' initial post read: "I'm joining X to share occasional updates about the work we do at the White House. We are relentlessly focusing on advancing President Trump's agenda and delivering on promises to the American people. I welcome different viewpoints. Follow along for insights and information."
Account Authenticity Questioned
The account initially drew skepticism due to the lack of a profile photo and the fact that Wiles already maintains a personal account on the platform. However, a White House logo and gray verification checkmark confirmed its authenticity. The post was also amplified by several prominent figures, including Vice President JD Vance.
Among the replies were also messages of support, with some users offering prayers for Wiles following her announcement in March that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and would continue working while undergoing treatment.
Criticism from Trump Voters
Many responses came from self-identified Trump voters expressing disappointment. One user wrote: "Susie, what Trump campaigned on and what he has implemented since being elected to power are two different things. It's business as usual. What a shame." Another said: "Can we get some clarity on what his agenda is to help with pricing? I'm a 3 time Trump voter in Ohio. Housing, food costs, child care, healthcare, everything seems to only go up."
A different user commented: "Looking forward to those 'occasional updates' on why the agenda is already three months behind schedule." Another stated: "I'm tired of talking about the war and gas prices, and miss talking about immigration and our problems."
One response read: "Mrs. Wiles, we voted for mass deportations and while the efforts of the administration are a vast improvement over anything else in my lifetime, they have fallen short of the public's expectations." Another user added: "Americans who voted for Trump think you are doing a terrible job as Trump's Chief of Staff. Trump is wasting his term on foreign affairs, while abandoning mass deportations."
Some criticism was harsher: "POTUS has betrayed his base and the real MAGA coalition. POTUS has destroyed his legacy to support a racist, apartheid, anti-Christian country."
Supportive Voices
However, there were also supportive comments. One user wrote: "Welcome to X, Madam Chief of Staff! The American people voted for RESULTS — mass deportations, border secured, energy dominance, inflation crushed, and no more endless wars. Keep it transparent, keep it relentless. We're watching and we've got your back."
Others demanded stronger action: "If you want Republicans to win the mid-terms, 78 million US citizens want ALL illegals removed from this country. We want MASS DEPORTATIONS Susie. Otherwise, it's going to be really bad for this administration."
