President Donald Trump faced intense criticism on social media after referring to the White House as a "shit house" during a dinner for law enforcement officials in the Rose Garden on Monday. Trump made the remark while boasting about his planned $400 million ballroom and ongoing renovations to the executive mansion.

"I was told by my wife you have to act presidential, so don't use foul language. I won't, therefore — normally, I would have said it was a shit house, but I don't want to say that," Trump stated. He then highlighted the renovations he has overseen since retaking the presidency, claiming, "This place is tippy top now. Including all the brand new beautiful stone – I paid for it myself – all of the stone, all of the different things we have, and we're bringing the White House back to shape."
Ballroom Funding Controversy
The president also promoted his planned ballroom, which Senate Republicans have proposed funding at $1 billion in their latest reconciliation bill. This contradicts Trump's repeated assertions that the project would use no taxpayer dollars. "And the big thing is we're building a ballroom in the back," Trump said. "Which will be, I think, the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world."
