The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that President Donald Trump lost his temper and threw a device during a video call with French President Emmanuel Macron and then-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the Oval Office last year. The incident occurred weeks into Trump's new term when the two leaders attempted a video conference with Trudeau. An official present said Trump became frustrated with a technical issue that prevented him from joining the conversation and "lobbed the device over the Resolute Desk and onto the floor."
Pattern of Throwing Objects
This is not the first time Trump has thrown objects when displeased. Last month, he pulled off his microphone and tossed it to the ground after storming out of a "Meet The Press" interview. In a more infamous incident, he allegedly threw his lunch against the wall in anger over the 2020 election. Cassidy Hutchinson, former top assistant to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, testified in 2022 that "there was ketchup dripping down the wall, and there was a shattered porcelain plate on the floor."
Hutchinson's Testimony
Hutchinson stated that such behavior was not uncommon. "There were several times throughout my tenure with the chief of staff, that I was aware of him either throwing dishes, or flipping the tablecloth to let all of the contents of the table go onto the floor to likely break or go everywhere," she said.
