Two Charged in Windsor Pub Break-In Through Fire Wall

Windsor police have charged two men after alleging they used an opening created by fire damage to break into a local restaurant and pub. The incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on April 4, according to authorities.

Surveillance video captured two men allegedly entering the business through a hole in the wall caused by a deliberately set fire that occurred several hours earlier. Once inside the pub, the suspects stole cash, a credit card, jewelry, computers, and other property.

Police reported that one of the suspects later used the stolen credit card to make purchases at nearby convenience stores. The Windsor Police Service’s target base unit quickly identified two suspects after taking over the investigation.

On April 13, officers arrested one suspect in the 400 block of Wyandotte Street East. The second suspect was arrested on April 22 in the 900 block of Wyandotte Street East.

A 45-year-old man faces charges including break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence in a place other than a dwelling house, two counts of possession of a stolen credit card, two counts of fraud under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. A 39-year-old man has been charged with break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence in a place other than a dwelling house and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
