The writer argued that instead of focusing on the lack of French, Canadians should recognize the importance of Indigenous languages and the symbolic role Simon played in representing the North and reconciliation. Boucher noted that South Africa has 12 official languages and suggested that Canada could adopt a more inclusive approach. 24 Sussex Debate: An Ottawa-Centric Issue?
Another letter, from Steven Poole of Orléans, addressed the ongoing controversy over 24 Sussex Drive. Poole dismissed the idea that all Canadians are embarrassed by the prime minister's residence situation, calling it an Ottawa-centric issue. He criticized the National Capital Commission (NCC) for poor governance and suggested selling 24 Sussex to an embassy while allowing both the governor general and prime minister to reside on the GG property.
Restaurant Review Dispute
Elizabeth Grace of Ottawa defended Dinette Atomique in Sandy Hill, disagreeing with a recent review by food editor Peter Hum. She praised the restaurant's food, value, and service, urging Hum to revisit and reconsider his assessment. Grace noted that the restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood and worth a trip from anywhere in the city.
