A 17-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder after a woman and her two daughters were found dead in a residence in Brockville, Ontario, on Thursday. Police have confirmed that the accused and the victims were known to each other, but they are not related.
Details of the Incident
The Brockville Police Service responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:30 a.m. on May 7, 2026, reporting the deaths of three individuals at a residence on Cartier Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of three people inside the home. Based on evidence at the scene, the deaths were deemed suspicious.
Inspector Darryl Boyd later identified the victims as a mother in her mid-40s and her two daughters, who were in their mid-teens to early 20s. He described the incident as the city's first homicide in years and the first triple murder in recent memory. “I haven’t seen anything like it in my career,” Boyd said.
Arrest and Charges
Following the discovery, police obtained information that led them to an address on Old Red Road, on the outskirts of Brockville. Social media users had reported a heavy police presence in that area on Thursday afternoon. Officers located the 17-year-old suspect there and arrested him. Boyd confirmed there was “some resistance” during the arrest.
The teen has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of assaulting a police officer. He was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Friday. Due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the accused’s identity has not been released.
Investigation Ongoing
Inspector Boyd noted that investigators were still in the process of obtaining search warrants on Thursday evening, limiting the information that could be released. He added that detectives would be “working around the clock for the foreseeable future.” Details regarding how the murders unfolded or any weapons used were not yet available.
Police have urged the public to be patient as the investigation continues. “This investigation is sensitive and complex,” a police statement read. “We recognize the profound impact this incident has on the families, loved ones, and the community. We respectfully ask for the public’s patience as investigators continue their work, and we encourage empathy for those most directly impacted.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
