Therapist Accused of Assaulting Children with Autism

Halton Regional Police have charged Muaz Sarfraz, a 25-year-old from Mississauga, with assaulting two children with autism while working as an applied behaviour analysis (ABA) therapist at Spectacokids in Milton. The investigation began after a complaint was filed, leading to Sarfraz's arrest on Tuesday.

He faces six counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, and one count of assault causing bodily harm. Police allege the offenses occurred during recent therapy sessions at the Bronte Street location, with both victims being children with autism who were alone with the accused at the time. Sarfraz is held in custody pending a bail hearing, and authorities have released his photo due to concerns about potential additional victims.

ABA therapy is an evidence-based approach used to support children with autism and developmental disorders. Spectacokids, the service provider involved, offers ABA, speech, and occupational therapy services. Anyone with information is urged to contact Halton Regional Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
