Edmonton police have charged a 54-year-old man with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with the decades-old missing persons case of Gerald Geake. Kevin Wade Moroz, of Two Hills County, Alberta, faces these charges as investigators continue to seek information about Geake's whereabouts.
Case Background
Gerald Geake was 37 years old when he was reported missing in the spring of 2003. Friends last heard from him in May 2002. Police believe Geake was assaulted at a south Edmonton residence shortly before he disappeared. Two other men, including Moroz, are believed to have left the home with Geake, according to police statements made Wednesday prior to a press conference.
Public Appeal for Information
Detective Bryan Kincheloe of the historical crimes section urged the public to come forward with any details, no matter how small. "We're hopeful someone may have information about Gerald's activities after leaving the residence," Kincheloe said. "Even the smallest, seemingly insignificant memory may assist our investigation, and we encourage them to come forward."
Vehicle of Interest
A black 1992 GMC Sierra is connected to the case. Police believe this vehicle may have been in Edmonton's Avonmore neighbourhood around the time Geake went missing. Anyone with information about the truck or its movements is asked to contact authorities.
