Two Lethbridge Men Charged with First-Degree Murder in Targeted Homicide
The Lethbridge Police Service has announced that two local men are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man. Authorities have stated that the incident appears to have been a targeted attack between individuals who were known to each other.
Discovery of the Victim
Police and emergency medical services responded to a report of an assault early Friday morning, around 6:30 a.m., at an apartment complex located along the 200 block of 7 A Avenue South in Lethbridge. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive male inside one of the apartments. The victim, identified as a 27-year-old Lethbridge resident, was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrests and Charges
Following an intensive investigation, police arrested two males on Saturday without incident. The suspects have been identified as Darcy Andrew Medicine Crane, 43, and Jordan Frank North Peigan, both residents of Lethbridge. Each man has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and is currently remanded in custody.
Police have emphasized that evidence collected indicates this was a targeted incident involving parties who were acquainted with one another, according to a news release issued by the Lethbridge Police Service on Monday.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
Medicine Crane is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, while North Peigan's court date is set for April 7. The Lethbridge Police Service has confirmed that the investigation remains active, with the possibility of additional charges being filed as more information comes to light.
