46-Year-Old Arrested in South Windsor Shooting Extortion Case
Man arrested in South Windsor shooting extortion case

Windsor police have made a significant arrest in connection with a disturbing extortion case that involved a shooting at a South Windsor residence earlier this month.

Dramatic Morning Shooting

According to police investigators, the incident unfolded on November 2 around 6 a.m. in the 2500 block of Academy Drive. Surveillance footage captured a masked suspect arriving at the residence in a black SUV.

The suspect was seen exiting the vehicle, approaching the house, then returning to the SUV to retrieve a firearm. Police confirm the individual then fired multiple rounds into the home before fleeing south on Academy Drive toward E.C. Row Avenue.

Extortion Scheme Revealed

The major crimes unit investigation uncovered a troubling extortion scheme behind the violent incident. When detectives spoke with the homeowner, they learned he had borrowed $50,000 from an individual to assist with a down payment on the property.

Police revealed that when the homeowner stopped making payments, the lender allegedly threatened to "send people to his house." This threat preceded the shooting that occurred on November 2.

Arrest and Charges

On November 13, Windsor police identified and arrested a 46-year-old suspect outside a residence in the 1900 block of Everts Avenue.

The accused faces serious charges including:

  • Extortion
  • Conspiracy to commit the indictable offence of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place
  • Obstruction of justice

Investigators emphasized that while they have made this arrest for the extortion aspect of the case, no one has been arrested specifically for the shots-fired incident that occurred on November 2.

Ongoing Investigation

Windsor police continue to seek information from the public regarding the shooting incident. The major crimes unit is asking residents and businesses in the area to review any surveillance or dashcam footage recorded between 5:30-6:30 a.m. on November 2.

Investigators are particularly interested in identifying the individual or individuals responsible for firing shots into the South Windsor home.
