Man Faces Multiple Charges After Allegedly Confining Youth at Gunpoint in Tisdale
Tisdale, Saskatchewan – A 44-year-old man from Weldon, Saskatchewan, is facing a series of serious charges following a disturbing incident in which he allegedly threatened two youth with a firearm and stole a vehicle with them still inside.
Incident Details and Police Response
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on March 12 in the Tisdale area. Police received a report that two youth were in a parked vehicle when a man entered and pointed a gun at them.
Authorities stated that the man then drove around, forcing the youth to remain inside the vehicle for approximately two hours before releasing them near Tisdale. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the event.
Arrest and Evidence Recovery
The stolen vehicle was later located on 101st Avenue in Tisdale, leading to the arrest of the suspect without incident. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a firearm, a knife, and a mask.
Police also confirmed that the man was wanted on outstanding warrants from Melfort and Saskatoon at the time of his arrest.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The accused, identified as Gary Hill, 44, has been charged with multiple offences, including:
- Robbery
- Kidnapping
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
- Unauthorized possession in a vehicle
- Possession of a break-in instrument
Additional charges include three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and one count of breaching a firearms prohibition order.
Hill remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Melfort provincial court on Thursday for his next hearing.

RCMP officials have stated that they are not releasing information about the youth victims to protect their privacy and well-being, as well as to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
