Saskatchewan Man Faces 76 Charges in Province-Wide Break-In Spree

A 57-year-old Regina man is confronting a staggering 76 criminal charges in connection with an extensive series of break-ins that spanned multiple communities across Saskatchewan, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Investigation Uncovers Widespread Property Crimes

The Saskatchewan RCMP's South District established a specialized investigative team in May 2025 to examine a pattern of reported property crimes extending from Hudson Bay in east-central Saskatchewan to Torquay in the southern region of the province.

Investigators identified 74 separate break-in reports they believe are interconnected, occurring in 43 different communities and surrounding areas throughout southern Saskatchewan between September 2019 and February 2026.

"At this time, investigators are not aware of any homes being broken into," clarified the RCMP in their official release, distinguishing these crimes from residential burglaries.

Stolen Property and Financial Impact

The criminal activity resulted in substantial losses for affected communities, with approximately $50,000 in cash stolen alongside various other valuable items. The stolen property included:

  • Debit and credit cards
  • Gift cards of various denominations
  • Alcohol and spirits
  • Antique coins and collectibles
  • Various other merchandise and valuables

The targeted locations encompassed local businesses, municipal offices, post offices, community centers, and other non-residential properties throughout the province.

Specific Charges and Legal Proceedings

The accused faces a comprehensive array of charges, including:

  1. 62 counts of breaking and entering
  2. 12 counts of attempting to break and enter with intent
  3. One count of possessing property obtained by crime valued under $5,000
  4. One count of possessing property obtained by crime valued over $5,000

The man was scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Wednesday following the extensive investigation.

Community Impact and Police Response

"At the core of this investigation are the communities who have been impacted," stated Inspector Jillian McLaren, Saskatchewan RCMP South District Operations Officer. "This may not be a violent crime, but it's crime that is extremely damaging to those communities who lost valuables and funds and felt their safety has been compromised."

The RCMP continues to seek additional information from the public and encourages anyone who may have been a victim but hasn't yet reported the incident to come forward. Individuals with relevant information can contact Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP, submit information through the RCMP's online portal, or provide anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers.

The investigation represents a significant effort by law enforcement to address property crimes affecting multiple Saskatchewan communities over an extended period, highlighting the ongoing challenges of maintaining security in rural and urban areas across the province.
