Calgary police have indicated that the discovery of human remains in the city's expansive Nose Hill Park does not currently appear to be the result of a crime.
Discovery in Northwest Calgary Park
The investigation began on November 14 when a pedestrian came across the remains in the late morning. The discovery was made in the sprawling natural park located in northwest Calgary, specifically in the area near 14th Street and 64th Avenue N.W.
Police Investigation and Preliminary Findings
While the final results from an autopsy are still pending, authorities have stated their initial assessment points toward a death of non-criminal nature. Calgary police confirmed in an email that preliminary findings suggest the death is non-criminal. They have stated that no further details will be released at this time.
Park-goers noted a continued police presence in the south end of the park throughout the following Saturday. Despite this activity, the area was not reported to be cordoned off from public access.
