One individual has been hospitalized following a violent home invasion that occurred early Wednesday morning in an affluent area of Toronto, according to police reports. In a separate incident, a man was shot in North York approximately half an hour later, marking a concerning start to the day in the city.
Home Invasion in Glencairn and Avenue Road Area
Toronto Police responded to a call in the Glencairn Avenue and Avenue Road vicinity, located south of Lawrence Avenue, at approximately 2:15 a.m. The authorities were alerted to reports of both a shooting and a home invasion unfolding in the neighborhood.
Initial investigations revealed that a group of males forcibly entered a residence. During the intrusion, one of the suspects shot an occupant of the home. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving the victim wounded.
The injured individual was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the injuries were non-life-threatening. As of now, police have not released any descriptions of the suspects involved in this home invasion, and the investigation remains active.
Second Shooting in North York
In a seemingly unrelated incident, Toronto Police were called to another shooting scene at around 2:40 a.m., this time in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue area of North York. Officers arrived at an apartment building where they discovered a man in a hallway suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
The victim from this second shooting was also taken to a hospital, with authorities stating that his injuries are not life-threatening. Police have indicated that there is no evidence linking this North York shooting to the earlier home invasion in the Glencairn area.
