Major Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads to Arrest and Massive Seizure
Halton Regional Police have successfully concluded a significant drug trafficking investigation known as Project Forge, resulting in criminal charges against a Toronto man and the seizure of narcotics with an estimated wholesale value of $1.5 million. The operation, which began in the fall of 2025, targeted illicit drug distribution networks operating within the Greater Toronto Area.
Substantial Narcotics and Cash Recovered
On February 9, investigators executed search warrants at two separate residences and an associated vehicle, leading to the alleged seizure of 36 kilograms of opium and 20 kilograms of cocaine. Additionally, police confiscated between $15,000 and $20,000 in bundled Canadian currency during the coordinated raids. The combined weight of the seized substances totals 56 kilograms, representing one of the more substantial drug interdictions in the region recently.
Aden Zedan, a 22-year-old resident of Toronto, now faces two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking—specifically for cocaine and opium. Following his arrest, Zedan was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled to take place in Milton. The charges stem directly from evidence gathered throughout the Project Forge investigation.
Police Commitment to Community Safety
Detective-Sergeant Ryan Eacrett of Halton Regional Police's Drugs and Organized Crime Unit emphasized the department's dedication to combating drug distribution networks. "The results of Project Forge demonstrate our commitment to making the community safer by targeting those who distribute toxic substances, especially opioids into our neighborhoods," Eacrett stated in an official release.
He further explained that operations of this magnitude serve multiple crucial purposes: "Major drug seizures like this not only prevent potential drug poisonings, they disrupt criminal networks and send a clear message that our investigators will hold those who profit from this harm accountable."
Investigation Background and Public Appeal
The investigation was initiated by Halton's Drug and Organized Crime Unit in late 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to address drug trafficking activities throughout the GTA. Through meticulous investigative work, authorities were able to identify a suspect allegedly involved in substantial narcotics distribution.
Police continue to encourage public cooperation in such cases. Anyone possessing information relevant to this investigation is urged to contact the Drug and Organized Crime Unit directly at 905-825-4747, extension 5331. Alternatively, tips can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
This successful operation underscores law enforcement's persistent efforts to dismantle organized crime elements that profit from the distribution of dangerous substances within Canadian communities.
