Two Suspects Arrested Following March Home Invasions in Eastern Ontario

Ontario Provincial Police have made arrests in connection with two separate home invasion robberies that occurred earlier this month in South Stormont and Cardinal, leaving residents with minor injuries.

Details of the Incidents

The first incident took place on March 6, when two men forcibly entered a residential trailer located on Rombough Road in South Stormont Township. The lone resident sustained minor injuries during the encounter. The suspects subsequently fled the scene in a vehicle.

Later that same evening, police responded to a second home invasion at a residence on Benson Street in Cardinal. In this case, two men again forced their way inside, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to the sole occupant. The individuals escaped in a black pickup truck.

Charges and Court Appearances

On Thursday, March 20, 2026, authorities arrested two individuals in relation to these crimes. Lucas Stewart, a 34-year-old resident of South Dundas, and Shane Albert-Pichette, 41, from North Dundas, now face multiple charges.

The charges against each suspect include:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

Both accused individuals were held in custody following their arrests. They are scheduled to appear in court in Brockville on March 25 to answer to these serious allegations.

Police Investigation and Community Impact

The Ontario Provincial Police continue their investigation into these disturbing incidents that have affected multiple communities in eastern Ontario. While the residents suffered only minor injuries, home invasions represent a significant violation of personal safety and security.

These arrests come as a relief to local residents concerned about their safety following the March incidents. The police response demonstrates law enforcement's commitment to addressing violent crimes in the region and holding perpetrators accountable through the justice system.
