A 51-year-old Windsor man is facing a slew of criminal charges following a violent assault early Thursday morning that left another individual with significant injuries, according to the Windsor Police Service.
Early Morning Call Leads to Arrest
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of Erie Street East shortly before 3:30 a.m. on January 12, 2026. The call was in response to a reported assault.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a victim who stated they had fled the home after being assaulted, choked, and threatened by a man known to them. The victim sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention at the scene.
Foot Pursuit and Weapon Discovery
Officers quickly located the suspect in an alley behind the residence. The man attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody after a brief pursuit.
During the arrest, police discovered the suspect was allegedly in possession of a concealed knife and pepper spray.
Multiple Charges Laid
The male suspect now faces numerous charges as a result of the incident. The charges include:
- Assault
- Assault with choking
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon
- Two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon
- Six counts of failure to comply with a release order
The accused remains in police custody.
