Canada Day 2026 promises a vibrant array of celebrations across Waterloo Region, Guelph, and beyond, with fireworks, parades, and family-friendly activities scheduled for July 1. Communities are preparing for a day of national pride and entertainment.
Kitchener and Waterloo Highlights
Kitchener will host its annual Canada Day festivities at Victoria Park, featuring live music from local bands, a children's zone with inflatable games, and a fireworks display at dusk. The event runs from noon to 10 p.m., with free admission. Waterloo's celebration at Waterloo Park includes a multicultural food fair, pony rides, and a performance by the KW Symphony. Organizers expect over 20,000 attendees.
Guelph and Cambridge Events
Guelph's Canada Day party at Riverside Park offers a classic car show, face painting, and a beer garden. Fireworks launch at 10 p.m. Cambridge marks the day at Riverside Park with a pancake breakfast, a citizenship ceremony, and a drone light show instead of traditional fireworks, citing environmental concerns. The drone show will feature 300 drones forming patriotic symbols.
Regional and Beyond
Smaller communities like Elmira and St. Jacobs host parades and community picnics. Elmira's event includes a petting zoo and a pie-eating contest. In Stratford, the day culminates with a fireworks display over the Avon River. According to local organizers, attendance across the region is expected to exceed 50,000.
