A 75-year-old Langley resident remains in critical condition following an assault on Canada Day, according to Langley RCMP. Officers responded to reports of a man in distress near Park Avenue and Douglas Crescent shortly before 10 p.m. on July 1.
Details of the Incident
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the senior suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. Const. Peter Mann, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP, confirmed that investigators have reviewed video evidence and determined the man was assaulted.
“Officers believe there were additional people in the area who may have witnessed the incident, and we are asking those individuals to come forward and speak with investigators,” said Mann in a statement on Thursday.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Langley RCMP is urging anyone who was in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on Canada Day to contact police. Investigators are particularly interested in dash camera or CCTV footage from the vicinity of Park Avenue and Douglas Crescent during that time.
The assault occurred during Canada Day celebrations, and police believe there may have been multiple witnesses who have not yet come forward. The victim's identity has not been released, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
