A Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service fire truck caught fire while responding to a house fire on Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2026. The incident occurred in the city's North End, according to officials.
Fire Truck Engulfed in Flames
The fire truck was dispatched to a house fire in the 300 block of Drouillard Road around 1:00 p.m. When crews arrived, the truck itself became engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly shifted focus to extinguishing the blaze on their own vehicle.
No injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians. The house fire was also brought under control, but the fire truck sustained significant damage. The cause of the truck fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
Response and Investigation
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Chief John Lane said in a statement, “This is an unusual and serious incident. We are grateful that no one was hurt, and we will be conducting a thorough investigation to determine what happened.”
The department has deployed a replacement fire truck to cover the area. The damaged vehicle has been towed for mechanical and forensic examination. The house fire that prompted the response is also being investigated, but no further details have been released.
