A tense situation in Winnipeg's St. Vital neighborhood ended peacefully after a two-hour standoff, resulting in a 37-year-old man facing seven criminal charges. The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a call in the 200 block of St. Anne's Road.
Standoff Details
Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who had barricaded himself inside a residence. The Winnipeg Police Service's crisis negotiation team was called in to de-escalate the situation. After two hours of negotiations, the man surrendered without incident. No injuries were reported.
Charges Laid
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and resisting arrest. Additional charges relate to property damage and weapons offenses. The man is currently in custody awaiting a court appearance.
