Pastor Who Preached Commitment Accused of Bigamy

A Florida pastor who authored a book on marriage and commitment has been arrested on charges of bigamy, authorities said.

Arrest and Charges

Leslie Williams, 62, was taken into custody on April 22 on an outstanding warrant from Rockdale County, Georgia, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. He was arrested at The Villages, a large retirement community spanning Sumter, Marion, and Lake counties in Florida. Williams is being held without bond as an out-of-state fugitive, arrest records show.

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office stated that marriage records from Florida confirmed Williams was still legally married at the time of a subsequent marriage. Based on these records, a warrant was issued for bigamy. Concerns were first raised when someone reported the alleged bigamy to the Haines City Police Department in Florida. The case was later transferred to Georgia after Williams' most recent marriage was certified in Rockdale County.

Book on Commitment

Williams' Facebook page identifies him as a pastor of LW Ministries and a board-certified Christian counselor. In 2017, he published a book titled Live Her Like This: Loving Her Has Never Been Deeper, aimed at men and addressing common marital issues that can destroy relationships. A synopsis of the book challenges men to love deeper by making the meaning of commitment clear, according to People magazine.

The pastor's Facebook page also indicated he had been married for years, dating back to at least 2018. However, a photo posted in December 2025 appeared to hint at a new marriage to a woman named Cindi, Fox News reported. Months later, his relationship status on Facebook changed from married to single, suggesting trouble in the relationship.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, and Williams remains in custody pending extradition to Georgia.
