Arson causes over $2M damage to Winnipeg business

Winnipeg police are investigating an arson that caused over $2 million in damage to a local business, authorities said Wednesday.

Fire broke out early Wednesday

The fire was reported around 4 a.m. at a commercial building in the 800 block of Main Street, according to the Winnipeg Police Service. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames engulfing the structure.

No injuries were reported, but the building sustained extensive damage estimated at more than $2 million, police said. The cause has been determined as suspicious and arson investigators are leading the probe.

Authorities are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
