The Saint John Police Force has arrested two men and a teenage boy in connection with a drug trafficking operation, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Details of the Arrests
Police executed search warrants at two locations in the city on Tuesday, leading to the seizure of a quantity of illicit drugs and cash. The investigation, which began earlier this month, targeted individuals suspected of distributing controlled substances in the community.
Two adult males, aged 38 and 45, along with a 17-year-old youth, were taken into custody without incident. They are facing multiple charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Seized Items
During the searches, officers recovered a mix of drugs believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as Canadian currency. The total value of the seized substances has not yet been determined, but police estimate it to be in the thousands of dollars.
The 17-year-old cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All three suspects were scheduled to appear in Saint John Provincial Court on Wednesday.
Community Impact
Saint John Police have emphasized that drug trafficking remains a priority for the force, as it often fuels other criminal activity and harms vulnerable individuals. They encourage anyone with information about drug crimes to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be laid as evidence is further analyzed.
