Misuse of electors list a betrayal of democracy in Alberta
Misuse of electors list a betrayal of democracy

So, Elections Alberta is taking seriously the unauthorized use of the Republican Party of Alberta's copy of the electors list by the Centurion Project Ltd.

The Centurion Project's mission statement is "to recruit, equip and mobilize a team of community leaders across the province of Alberta to take on the task of winning Alberta's sovereignty."

I am appalled that a government agency released my (and millions of other Albertans') private information to a separatist party, and that it was posted on the internet for all to see and access. And even though the list may now be taken down, the damage is done.

This is not a small thing. I wonder why the government is not "outraged" at this action, speaking out in full force and putting a stop to this illegal behaviour and, frankly, to this outright purposeful betrayal of our democracy.

If the UCP government does not stand up against this malfeasance, then it is clear it does not work for the people of Alberta, but for the separatists — and thus, must step down.

Pandering to separatists

I am beyond outraged. This massive misuse of data can lead to unspeakable violence, let alone massive personal and financial destruction that identity theft causes.

This UCP government has done everything it can to coddle and cater to the separatists. Now, David Parker, the premier's good friend, has been given access to this most sensitive personal data to further his separatist cause.

The people behind this egregious attack on Albertans' privacy need to be jailed, fined and sued into oblivion.

Risk increases with speed limit

To save the transportation minister time, I will tell you what speed increase monitoring will show. The carnage on highways will increase, especially in winter, and all those who previously drove 120 km/h in a 110 zone will now go 130.

Unfortunately, despite clear evidence to show that such things as vaccines, photo radar enforcement, gender affirming care in vetted cases, permanent standard time, environmental standards and a lower speed limit are proven to be the healthy choices, the UCP does not care about science.

It is driven by ideology. I am willing to bet the minister is more likely to increase the limit rather than admit it was a bad idea.

Water restrictions not needed

How gullible is city council to yet again get hoodwinked by administration? It swiftly passed additional water use restrictions without being fully informed about all of the cost-benefit options of reducing future water usage by 20 per cent per capita by 2040.

Yet again, a leaking and ill-maintained water supply infrastructure appears to be the main argument (and excuse) of the administration.

There are many options other than imposing further restrictions on current Calgary residents for the benefit of future Calgary newcomers (gradually repair leaking systems, build a planned third water treatment plant for the complete or partial recycling and disinfection of collected wastewater, etc.).

The planned new storage reservoir on the Ghost River will add to the long-term security of the Calgary water supply.
