The Regina Police Service is seeking public assistance in identifying human remains discovered outside a home on the 1300 block of Retallack Street. According to a news release, the remains were found on June 9 at approximately 4:15 p.m. in the North Central neighbourhood after a caller reported what appeared to be human remains.
Investigation Details
The investigation involved members of the Regina Police Service major crimes and forensics units, as well as the RCMP Historical Cold Case Unit. An autopsy conducted on June 16 by the coroners service revealed that the deceased is a male, approximately 5-foot-9, between 30 and 40 years old at the time of death. The remains had been buried at the location for a minimum of five years, meaning prior to 2021. Additionally, the individual had sustained a broken jaw that required surgery at some point in his life.
Public Appeal
The police have no report of a missing person matching this description. As a result, they are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the deceased. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
