The Vancouver Canucks continue their search for a new general manager, with British Columbia natives Brad Pascall and Jeff Tambellini now in the running. According to reports, the two have interviewed for the position left vacant after Patrik Allvin was fired on April 17.
Brad Pascall's Background
Pascall, 55, hails from Coquitlam and has served as an assistant general manager for the Calgary Flames since the 2014-15 season. His father, Bernie Pascall, was a longtime BCTV sports reporter. Brad's extensive front office experience makes him a strong contender.
Jeff Tambellini's Candidacy
Tambellini, 42, from Trail, is in his first season as an assistant general manager with the Tampa Bay Lightning, following three seasons in player development with the Seattle Kraken. He played six NHL seasons, including the 2010-11 campaign with the Canucks. His father, Steve Tambellini, was a former Canucks centre and front office executive.
Other Candidates
The Canucks have reportedly spoken with up to 15 candidates. Other names linked to the job include Boston Bruins assistant general managers Evan Gold and Jamie Langenbrunner, Florida Panthers assistant general manager Brent Peterson, and NHL front office executive Patrick Burke. Former Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams, Toronto Maple Leafs special advisor Shane Doan, and current Canucks assistant general manager Ryan Johnson are also in the mix.
The Canucks hold the best odds for the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft lottery, following their last-place finish this season.
