Ottawa Charge Returns Home for PWHL Semifinal
The Canadian Tire Centre ice is sporting a fresh paint job as the Ottawa Charge moves into the building for Games 3 and 4 of its Professional Women’s Hockey League semifinal. The Ottawa Charge logo is officially at centre ice, with PWHL playoff logos inside both blue lines, making the team feel at home in its new playoff barn, traditionally home to the NHL’s Ottawa Senators.
“The logo at centre ice, it makes you smile, gets you excited and feels very professional,” Charge head coach Carla MacLeod told reporters Tuesday. “It’s just those little things that add up, and we know the environment is going to be a lot of fun.”
Game Schedule and Venue
Game 3 will take place on Friday, May 8, at the Canadian Tire Centre. Game 4 follows on Sunday, May 10, at 3 p.m. at the same venue. If necessary, Game 5 will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. The best-of-five series sees the Charge hosting the Boston Fleet.
Ticket Sales
More Charge fans are getting in on playoff action than ever before. Friday’s game at the CTC is expected to surpass the roughly 8,200 seats available at TD Place Arena, the team’s regular-season home. As of Tuesday afternoon, tickets in the lower bowls (100 and 200 levels) on Ticketmaster appeared nearly sold out.
What’s at Stake
While the Ottawa Charge has called TD Place Arena home since the league formed in 2024, the team announced that all home playoff games would take place at the 17,153-seat Canadian Tire Centre. The league has not yet announced a full-time lease deal for the venue next season. With the series tied or leading, the Charge aims to capitalize on home-ice advantage in front of a large crowd.
Fan Experience
The fresh ice design and playoff branding aim to create an exciting atmosphere. Fans can expect a lively environment as the Charge seeks to advance to the next round. Stay tuned for more updates as the series progresses.
