Canadian receiver Ajou Ajou has agreed to terms with the Calgary Stampeders following his reinstatement by the Canadian Football League, the team announced Tuesday.
Contract details
The Stampeders did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement. Ajou, 26, was previously with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he played in 10 games during the 2025 season, recording 12 receptions for 156 yards and one touchdown.
Background
Ajou was originally selected by the Roughriders in the third round, 23rd overall, of the 2023 CFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Saskatchewan before being released in early 2026. The CFL reinstated him on June 30, making him eligible to sign with any team.
Impact on Stampeders roster
The addition of Ajou bolsters Calgary's receiving corps, which already includes veteran Reggie Begelton and emerging star Luther Hakunavanhu. Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson said in a statement, "We're excited to add a talented Canadian receiver like Ajou. He brings size and speed to our offense, and we believe he can contribute immediately."
Ajou, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 210 pounds, is known for his deep-threat ability. He will compete for playing time in a Stampeders offense that ranked fourth in the CFL in passing yards last season.
Reinstatement process
The CFL reinstated Ajou after he completed the league's substance abuse program, according to sources. The league does not publicly disclose details of player suspensions or reinstatements under its drug policy.
