Oilers Sniper Roslovic Signs Two-Year Deal with Maple Leafs

NHL insider Chris Johnston reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Edmonton Oilers forward Jack Roslovic to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $4 million. The deal, announced on July 1, 2026, sees Roslovic leave the Oilers after the team failed to reach an agreement with the 29-year-old sniper earlier this year.

Contract Details and Background

According to Johnston, the Leafs locked in Roslovic with a $4 million AAV over two seasons. Edmonton insider Bob Stauffer of Oilers Now revealed that the Oilers and Roslovic had engaged in contract talks earlier in the season, but negotiations stalled. “I think there was a point in the season when he could have got a 4 (years) by $4.5 million deal but then it kind of went dead,” Stauffer said.

Roslovic's Performance with the Oilers

During the 2025-26 season, Roslovic posted 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 72 games with Edmonton. The Ohio-born forward was acquired by the Oilers in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2024 and quickly became a reliable secondary scorer. His speed and shot made him a valuable asset on the wing, particularly on the power play.

Impact on the Maple Leafs

The addition of Roslovic gives Toronto another scoring option in their top nine forwards. The Leafs, who have been seeking more depth after playoff exits, see Roslovic as a fit for their up-tempo system. With a cap hit of $4 million, the deal provides reasonable value for a player who has consistently produced at a 20-goal pace over his career.

Oilers' Offseason Moves

For Edmonton, losing Roslovic opens up cap space but creates a hole in their forward group. The Oilers have been active in free agency, targeting players to complement stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. General Manager Stan Bowman will need to address the loss of Roslovic's production as the team aims for another deep playoff run.
