Giancarlo Fiorella, Director of Research and Training at the investigative journalism group Bellingcat, said the manipulated clips are designed to create confusion and erode public confidence.
Sophisticated Disinformation Campaign
Fiorella explained that the videos, which appear to show Zelenskyy making controversial statements or engaging in dubious activities, are crafted with increasing sophistication. "These are not just amateur edits; they are professionally produced deepfakes designed to deceive," he said. The goal, he added, is to "sow distrust in democracy and destabilize Ukraine at a critical time."
