Agribition to Expand Livestock Space with New Building

Canadian Western Agribition is set to expand its livestock facilities with a new building, CEO Shaun Kindopp announced on July 2, 2026. The project aims to increase available space for animals at the annual Regina livestock show, which draws thousands of participants and visitors each year.

Details of the Expansion

The new building will add significant square footage to the existing Agribition grounds, allowing for more livestock pens and improved animal handling areas. Kindopp stated that the expansion is driven by growing demand from breeders and exhibitors who have faced space constraints in recent years. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion targeted for the 2027 show.

Agribition, one of Canada's premier livestock exhibitions, typically features thousands of cattle, horses, sheep, and other animals. The additional space will also accommodate new barns and wash areas, enhancing the overall experience for participants.

Impact on the Show

According to Kindopp, the expansion will allow Agribition to host more animals and attract larger international delegations. “This investment ensures we remain competitive and continue to support the agricultural community,” he said. The project is funded through a combination of provincial grants and private donations.

The new building is part of a broader modernization plan for Agribition, which has been held in Regina since 1971. Organizers hope the improvements will boost attendance and economic impact for the region.
