Alabama Barker, the daughter of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, has launched a fierce defense of her father after he faced online criticism for gifting her lingerie for Christmas. The 20-year-old social media personality took to TikTok on Monday to address the controversy head-on.
A Fiery TikTok Rant in Defense of Her Dad
In a video posted to her account, which boasts nearly 6 million followers, Alabama did not hold back. She directly addressed the critics who tried to make her father's Christmas present "a thing." Referencing the iconic 2004 film "Mean Girls," she began her clip by stating, "Hold on, I have to go on a fucking rant. Why the fuck are you guys trying to make this lingerie thing a thing. It’s never going to be a thing Gretchen."
The backlash stemmed from a previous Christmas haul video Alabama posted on December 27. In that clip, she showed off numerous corsets and undergarments from the luxury brand Agent Provocateur, mentioning that her "dad went a little crazy" there. This revelation sparked a wave of negative comments directed at Travis Barker.
Setting the Record Straight: Kourtney Was the Buyer
In her follow-up video, Alabama clarified a crucial detail to shut down the criticism. She explained that her stepmother, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, was the person who actually selected the intimate items. Kourtney married Travis Barker in 2022.
"You think my dad’s like, ‘I’m going to pick out my daughter lingerie’? No," Alabama stated. "It was on my Christmas list and he wanted to make it happen for me, so he let Kourtney go pick out the lingerie." She expressed frustration at the scrutiny, adding, "God forbid a girl wanted cute panties and bras. Literally leave me alone."
She ended her rant by declaring, "I’m literally never going to do another Christmas haul. I hate you guys." When a TikTok user commented on her defense video that critics should not disrespect Travis Barker again, Alabama agreed, writing back, "Right don’t play with him."
A History of Facing Online Criticism
This is not the first time Alabama Barker has had to confront online judgment about her style and choices. In November 2023, when she was 17, she was condemned by critics for wearing a skin-tight dress that showed her stomach and décolletage.
At that time, she defended herself on her Instagram Stories, writing, "Let’s stop getting mad on my page that you felt the need to oversexualize me and have a problem with it." She firmly added, "I’m not going to wear long sleeves, etc., to make the internet not sexualize the body I was born with. If you have a problem, unfollow me."
