A recent Instagram exchange has Sex and the City fans buzzing, as actor Chris Noth appeared to agree with a fan's disparaging comment about his longtime co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker. The interaction suggests a potential rift between the former on-screen couple, who famously played Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big.
The Instagram Exchange That Started It All
Last week, Noth marked the start of 2026 by posting a gym photo on Instagram with the caption, "F&@k new years - LETS GO!!!!" The post came just days after Parker was honoured with the Carol Burnett Award for outstanding contributions to television at the Golden Globes' "Golden Eve" ceremony on January 6 in Los Angeles.
While fellow SATC stars Kristin Davis, David Eigenberg, and Evan Handler attended to celebrate Parker, Noth was notably absent. A fan seemingly referenced this in the comments, writing, "You mean fcuk sjp & her award right? lol." Noth's simple, one-word reply—"Right"—sent shockwaves through the fan community. Representatives for both actors did not respond to requests for comment.
A Complicated History On and Off Screen
Noth portrayed Parker's on-again, off-again love interest, Mr. Big, for all six seasons of HBO's Sex and the City and its two subsequent films. His involvement in the HBO Max revival, And Just Like That..., was limited after Mr. Big was killed off in the premiere episode.
The actor's exit from the franchise was further complicated when, shortly after the revival debuted, two women anonymously accused Noth of sexual assault. He denied the allegations, but scenes featuring Mr. Big were reportedly cut from the Season 1 finale before its 2022 broadcast.
A Surprising Shift in Public Support
Noth's recent comment is particularly surprising given his past vocal defence of Parker. In a 2021 interview with The Guardian, he publicly supported her amid reports of a feud with former co-star Kim Cattrall.
"I do know that I'm very close with SJ and [Cattrall's] descriptions of her don't even come close," he said at the time. "I just don't like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she's a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that."
The stark contrast between his protective stance then and his apparent agreement with a critical fan now has left many wondering about the current state of his relationship with Parker, marking a significant and unexpected turn in their long-standing public dynamic.
