Calgary's Canada Day festivities on July 1, 2026, will spread across seven downtown venues, featuring an all-Canadian musical lineup and a fireworks display visible from off-site locations due to Stampede Park preparations.
Seven Venues Across Downtown
Family-friendly events run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Prince's Island Park, Eau Claire Plaza, Sien Lok Park, the Calgary Municipal Building, Harry Hays green space, East Village, and The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland. The main stage has moved to Prince's Island Park, where an all-Canadian lineup including Micah Sage, Jamie Fine, Kardinal Offishall, Tia Wood, and Walk Off the Earth will perform starting at 2 p.m.
Kristina Timms, Canada Day event coordinator for the City of Calgary, highlighted the new setup: “The main stage show will feature a family-friendly, licensed patio, among just (an) amazing space within the park to picnic and lay back and do your thing with your loved ones.”
Fireworks Viewing From Max Bell Centre
The annual fireworks show will launch over Stampede Park, but viewing is not permitted on the grounds due to Stampede setup. Timms recommended Max Bell Centre as the prime viewing location: “It’s sandwiched between two LRT train stations, both within walking distance of the site, and there’s plenty of green space there, too, to set up with your families and just take in the beautiful cap to our celebrations this year.”
New Venue and Cultural Carousel
Eau Claire Plaza joins as a new venue with a secondary stage, food trucks, and family activities like face painting. Performers include the Calgary Fiddlers, School of Rock, and Static Bollywood Dance. At Sien Lok Park and the Calgary Municipal Building, the Cultural Carousel will showcase 37 local community groups offering interactive activities such as fan making, bracelet making, turban tying, and henna tattoos.
“I believe it’s 37 local cultural and community groups exhibiting, showing off their beautiful, amazing cultures by way of hands-on interactive cultural activities,” Timms said. Exclusive to Sien Lok Park are dragon walk and turban tying, while the Calgary Municipal Building hosts a lion dance at 2 p.m. and cultural fashion walks at noon and 4 p.m. The Chinese Cultural Centre also features dance performances and martial arts demonstrations throughout the day.
Studio Bell 10th Anniversary
Studio Bell is hosting a joint birthday party for its 10th anniversary, free to all, with live music and new exhibits. The day concludes with the fireworks at dusk over Stampede Park.
