Angel Stadium Section Shut Down During Blue Jays Game Over Rodent Infestation
Angel Stadium Section Closed Due to Rodent Droppings

During the Toronto Blue Jays' three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim last week, a section of Angel Stadium was forced to shut down after health officials discovered evidence of a rodent infestation. The closure occurred during the game on April 22, 2026, and affected a concession area in section 432 of the stadium.

Health Inspection Findings

According to a report obtained by the California Post on Monday, the Orange County Public Health Services conducted a routine inspection that uncovered rodent droppings in five different locations within the concession area. The droppings were found underneath storage racks, next to boxes of single-use articles, and near the janitorial sink. Additionally, inspectors found a hole larger than one-quarter inch in the ceiling that could allow vermin access to the space.

As a result, the concession stand's operating permit was suspended. Health officials ordered the stadium to eliminate all rodent activity using approved pest control methods, clean and sanitize all equipment surfaces, food containers, shelves, and floors, and properly seal all cracks and crevices greater than one-quarter inch to prevent future vermin harborage.

The report noted that the closure will remain in effect until all conditions warranting the closure are corrected.

Team Response

In a statement to the California Post, the Angels organization said it takes great pride in delivering a high-quality fan experience at Angel Stadium, including maintaining the cleanliness of its nearly 160 concession locations. The team added that after receiving guidance from the health department, it acted promptly with its concession partner to resolve the issue at the single stand. The team expects the stand to pass inspection and reopen in time for the upcoming homestand.

Previous Incidents

This is not the first time Angel Stadium has faced vermin-related issues. The Orange County Register reported in 2007 that county officials had found 118 vermin violations at Angel Stadium restaurants and kiosks over the previous two years. At that time, the team vowed to change its cleaning policy, and the problem was reportedly resolved by 2009.

The Blue Jays won two of the three games during the series in Anaheim.
