Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 33,000 vehicles in Canada over a potential issue with the transmission park feature. The problem involves the parking pawl, which may engage accidentally while the vehicle is in motion, causing damage. When the vehicle is shifted into park, the pawl might not hold, potentially allowing the vehicle to roll away.

Reported Incidents and Injuries

Ford has received 24 reports of property damage possibly linked to the defect, along with nine injuries. The automaker advises owners to watch for a wrench-shaped icon on the dashboard, which may indicate damage to the parking pawl. According to Autoblog, the electronic parking brake will apply automatically if the transmission range sensor does not reach the park position upon selecting Park.
