Stellantis workers and retirees raised more than $825,670 for the United Way Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent campaign, marking the largest single donation in the region and smashing last year's contribution target by 11 per cent.
Record-Breaking Donation
The Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant presented a cheque for $825,670.26 to United Way CEO Lorraine Goddard outside Catholic Central High School. This donation is the largest single contribution in the Windsor-Essex region, continuing a tradition of record-breaking fundraising by Stellantis employees.
“Our employees and retirees continue to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to strengthening the communities where we live and work,” said Stellantis Canada president Trevor Longley. “Through their generosity, we are helping ensure local students and families have access to essential support, from education and technology to mental health resources, so they can succeed in the year ahead.”
Support for Education and Essentials
The company also donated two vehicles filled with new backpacks and school supplies for distribution among students at Catholic Central High School. The funding will support critical community programs, including access to technology, academic support, mental health counselling, and the regional food bank network.
A significant portion of the donation will fund United Way’s On Track to Success program, an educational initiative designed to help students graduate from high school and pursue higher education.
Community Impact
“Giving back has always been a part of what Windsor Assembly Plant does,” said Unifor Local 444 president James Stewart. “Every donation matters, and together we are helping ensure that vital programs and services remain available to those who need them most.”
United Way Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent CEO Lorraine Goddard praised the partnership: “Stellantis, Unifor Local 444 and 195 have been extraordinary partners who share our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Their continued generosity reflects a deep commitment to helping young people reach their full potential through education and the support they need to thrive.”
