Miku Japanese Restaurant Expands to Richmond with New Location at River Rock Casino

A popular Vancouver Japanese restaurant is expanding into Richmond this month, marking a significant milestone for the local dining scene. Miku Japanese restaurant is about to open its second Metro Vancouver location at the River Rock Casino, located at 8811 River Rd. in Richmond, with a soft opening scheduled for February 17.

Soft Opening and Official Launch Details

The restaurant will have an official opening to be announced in March, but limited reservations can be made online now at mikurichmond.com. This strategic move allows the restaurant to gradually introduce its offerings to the Richmond community while ensuring a smooth operational transition.

Strategic Location Selection

The location was selected due to its proximity to transit and the airport, according to Aburi Restaurant Group Founder and CEO Seigo Nakamura. "We have many loyal guests who are either travellers to our beautiful province or live in Richmond," Nakamura said. The soft opening, the restaurant executive noted, will be an "exciting milestone" for the local team.

"They have been working very hard behind-the-scenes to prepare Miku Richmond for guests to finally experience for the first time," Nakamura added, highlighting the dedication of the staff in bringing this new venture to life.

Restaurant Features and Offerings

The 80-seat restaurant joins other eatery attractions at the casino-hotel property, including Canada’s first Gordon Ramsay Steak location. Expect the same level of service and food as at the Coal Harbour location at the new Miku outpost, including well-known dishes such as:

  • Aburi oshi sushi
  • Ebi fritters
  • Iwate Wagyu carpaccio
  • Saikyo miso sablefish
  • Nigiri and sashimi platters

Background and Expansion History

The first Miku opened in 2008, and a second location opened 10 years later in Toronto. The Aburi Restaurant Group also operates Minami restaurant and the Aburi Market, both in Yaletown, demonstrating a strong presence in the Vancouver culinary landscape. This expansion into Richmond reflects the group's commitment to growth and accessibility for its patrons.

With its focus on high-quality Japanese cuisine and strategic location, Miku Richmond is poised to become a key dining destination in the area, offering both locals and visitors a taste of its renowned offerings.
