DP World Launches Chile's 2025-26 Cruise Season

The global tourism landscape in Chile is receiving a significant boost as DP World officially inaugurates the 2025-26 cruise season at its multipurpose terminal in the port of San Antonio. This development reinforces Chile's position as a premier destination for international travelers exploring South America's Pacific Coast.

A New Chapter for Chilean Tourism

The new season, which runs from October 2025 to April 2026, will see the arrival of 15 cruise ships at the DP World facility. This influx is projected to channel millions of dollars into the local economy through tourism, retail, and hospitality services. The season commenced on October 30 with the arrival of the Seabourn Pursuit, marking the start of a busy period for the port.

Curtis Doiron, CEO of DP World in Chile, emphasized the collaborative effort behind this success. "The start of the 2025–26 cruise season marks another exciting chapter for San Antonio and for Chile’s growing tourism economy," he stated. "We’re proud to welcome visitors from around the world to our port and to play a role in connecting them with Chile’s rich culture, landscapes, and hospitality."

Economic Impact and Key Arrivals

The economic benefits of the cruise season are substantial. According to data from the Cruise Lines International Association and Oxford Economics, cruise passengers spend an average of US$96 per transit visit and US$242 per embarkation. This spending provides a vital revenue stream for local businesses.

The season will feature several notable vessels, including two major arrivals in early December. The MS Oosterdam and the MS Sapphire Princess are scheduled to dock, bringing nearly 8,000 passengers combined to the region. Later in the month, the Costa Deliziosa will also make a stop in San Antonio as part of its around-the-world voyage.

San Antonio: A Strategic Homeport and Gateway

Since DP World began its cruise operations in San Antonio in 2017, the port has welcomed more than 450,000 visitors. The terminal's advanced infrastructure and seamless logistics allow it to efficiently handle both cruise and cargo operations, making it one of the most versatile facilities in South America.

Omar Vera, Mayor of San Antonio, highlighted the broader value for the community. "This new season... further strengthen San Antonio’s position as a homeport and highlight its cultural and touristic character," he said. "The port, logistics, and tourism activities create a productive value chain that benefits gastronomy, hospitality, and local services."

This cruise season launch comes on the heels of a major international accolade for Chile. The country was recently named the World’s Leading Cruise Destination by the World Travel Awards, an honor often described as the "Oscars" of the tourism industry. San Antonio is ranked among Chile's top three most visited cruise ports, alongside Patagonia and Puerto Montt, solidifying its role as a key gateway driving long-term growth along the Pacific trade corridor.
