Quebec Man Arrested After Ramming OPP Cruisers

A 49-year-old man from Quebec is facing a series of criminal charges after he intentionally rammed two Ontario Provincial Police vehicles while attempting to evade arrest on Highway 401 on Wednesday evening. The incident unfolded rapidly, beginning shortly after 7 p.m. on April 22, when officers from the Leeds County detachment were alerted by their counterparts in the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry region to be on the lookout for a blue sedan that had failed to stop for police in the SD&G area.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the blue sedan was eventually spotted entering Leeds County territory, where the driver's reckless behavior escalated. The suspect deliberately crashed into two police cruisers before the vehicle finally came to a halt. One of the police vehicles sustained significant damage, but remarkably, no injuries were reported among officers or the suspect.

Seizure of Drugs

During the arrest, law enforcement officials conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered nearly 10 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. The drugs were seized as evidence, adding to the severity of the charges against the accused.
