In a display of remarkable organizational agility, far-left activist groups in Canada and around the world executed a rapid strategic shift over the first weekend of January 2026. Within mere hours of a U.S. military incursion into Venezuela, networks previously focused on anti-Israel protests mobilized to stage demonstrations against American actions, highlighting a new level of coordination and skill.
A Seamless and Rapid Strategic Pivot
The transformation occurred with military-like precision. U.S. special forces landed in Venezuela in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, 2026. Acclaimed investigative reporter Asra Q. Nomani, writing for Fox News, documented that the shift took literally minutes. By 1:45 a.m., just ten minutes after the operation began, socialist online outlet BreakThrough News was publishing video.
Key activist Manolo De Los Santos, identified as a main spokesperson for the far-left, anti-Israel People’s Forum, posted on social media at that time, calling the action a “war crime.” The People’s Forum, which columnist Warren Kinsella notes in his upcoming book is led by billionaire Neville Roy Singham from Shanghai, swiftly organized protests across the United States.
Less than one hour after troops landed, the anti-Israel ANSWER Coalition was advertising a protest for that same morning in New York City's Times Square.
Canadian Protests Mirror Global Pattern
An identical phenomenon unfolded in Canada. Before ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro had been arraigned in Manhattan, a well-attended protest was held in front of the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Additional rallies took place in Montreal and Vancouver.
Canadian lawyer and expert Caryma Sa’d observed a clear convergence. “Since the US military intervention in Venezuela, I’ve reviewed footage from Cambridge, Toronto, and Ottawa that suggests convergence between the anti-Israel and anti-American protesters,” Sa’d stated. She described a unified ideological lens encompassing “Land Back, Safe Supply, Free Palestine, Trans Rights, and now, Hands Off Venezuela.”
The Ottawa protest featured keffiyeh-clad individuals waving Palestinian flags alongside academics and others carrying pro-communist signs. The Globe and Mail quoted protester Deana Sherif, described as a property manager. Sherif, who carried a sign calling former U.S. President Donald Trump a pedophile, posted a photo from the rally under the headline “Globalize the Intifada.”
Experience and Resources Fuel Efficiency
Kinsella argues that the proficiency stems from extensive practice. “By running so many protests for more than two years, the antisemites and the bigots have acquired undeniable skills,” he writes. Their messaging and tactics, backed by significant resources and funding aimed at Gen Z and Millennials, have reportedly dwarfed pro-Western efforts.
This infrastructure allowed for an instantaneous pivot. Lawyer Caryma Sa’d notes that Sherif is a longtime anti-Israel organizer who was convicted in July 2025 of causing a disturbance and breaching bail conditions related to charges of assault with a weapon and hate-motivated harassment. A June 2025 court order had barred her from protests or related social media posting. Sa’d notified Ottawa Police about Sherif’s presence at the Venezuela protest but had not received a response at the time of reporting.
The bottom line, according to analysts, is that these activist networks have grown bolder, better organized, and possess the resources to demonize the West on multiple fronts with alarming speed. As Sa’d concludes: “The rapidity of this shift makes it likely that many frequent protesters are simply programmable: They’ll chant whatever the crowd is chanting without burdening themselves with details.”
