A child under eight years old has died after falling from a window of an apartment building on Laurier Avenue East in Ottawa on Monday evening, police confirmed Tuesday.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to 50 Laurier Ave. E at approximately 6:50 p.m. on April 27. Paramedics found the child outside the building with injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height. The child was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, the child succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to a police spokesperson.

Multiple police vehicles responded to the scene, and the rear west side of the building was cordoned off with police tape as investigators examined the area. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the fall.
