Edmonton Police Seek Footage in Suspicious Death

Edmonton Police Service is investigating a suspicious death that occurred early Saturday, July 4, in the downtown area near 106 Avenue and 113 Street. The homicide unit is leading the inquiry and is urgently requesting anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the vicinity to come forward.

Police Appeal for Footage

Authorities are specifically seeking footage captured between 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on July 4 within the boundaries of 111 Street to 115 Street and 103 Avenue to 107 Avenue. Investigators believe that a dark-coloured SUV fleeing the area may be connected to the incident. Anyone who was driving through this area with a dash camera or has home surveillance systems aimed at the streets is asked to review their recordings and contact police.

Officers from the downtown patrol division responded to a weapons complaint at approximately 6:30 a.m. on July 4. Upon arrival, they discovered an injured male and immediately called Emergency Medical Services. The man was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.
