Teen Charged After Ramming Police Cruiser in Ajax

A 16-year-old boy from Ajax, who was prohibited from driving at the time, has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly ramming a police cruiser with a stolen pickup truck. Durham Regional Police said the incident occurred on June 11 at approximately 1:30 a.m. when officers observed a Ford pickup truck driving erratically in a parking lot near Kingston and Westney Roads in Ajax.

When officers attempted to contain the vehicle during a traffic stop, the driver rammed a cruiser and fled. Police later located the vehicle—confirmed stolen—parked in the Bayly Street East and Burcher Road area and took the driver into custody.

The teen faces charges including impaired operation, impaired operation (exceed), flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation, driving while suspended, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order. Armed Teen Threatens Taxi Driver in Oshawa

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy from Oshawa has been accused of threatening a taxi driver while armed with a knife. Durham Regional Police said the victim approached an officer on Sunday at about 5:40 p.m. in the Bloor Street East and Ritson Road South area, reporting that a passenger had threatened them while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm concealed in his waistband before fleeing.

Police used a drone to locate the suspect, who was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. A large knife was found during a search. Elderly Woman Victim of Distraction Theft in Mississauga

Peel Regional Police are seeking two suspects in a distraction theft targeting an elderly woman in Mississauga. On June 26 at about 4:20 p.m., the victim was walking in the Garnetwood Chase and Rathburn Road East area when a female passenger in a blue Kia Sportage approached her, repeatedly asking if she was OK while placing a fake gold chain around her neck. When the victim pushed her away and called for help, a male suspect exited the vehicle and briefly covered her mouth.

The victim’s 18-karat gold necklace and pendant, valued at approximately $3,500, were stolen. The suspects fled in the Kia, which had no licence plates and was last seen westbound on Rathburn. The female suspect is described as 40 to 50 years old, medium build, black hair, wearing a colourful headscarf and long black skirt; she spoke Croatian and English. No description of the male suspect was provided. Police remind residents to be cautious when approached by strangers offering assistance or jewelry.
