Toronto Police have laid a series of charges against a 21-year-old man following a violent stabbing incident in the city's east end this past weekend.
Details of the Weekend Assault
According to authorities, officers were called to the area of Broadview and Danforth Avenues at approximately 4:09 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly approached the victim and demanded a cigarette. When the victim refused, the suspect is said to have initiated an assault.
The victim attempted to walk away from the confrontation, but the situation escalated. Police allege the suspect then produced a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. Emergency services transported the injured man to a local hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Suspect Arrest and Charges Filed
Police further reported that a short time after the stabbing, the same suspect entered a store in the vicinity, selected several items, and left without paying. Officers later located and arrested the individual.
The accused has been identified as Lamarana Diallo, 21, of no fixed address. He now faces a total of eleven charges, including:
- Assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Possession of a weapon
- Theft under $5,000
- Six counts of failing to comply with probation
Investigators have stated that the victim and the accused were not known to each other prior to the incident.
