Windsor drug bust nets $1,600, leads to arrest

A targeted investigation by Windsor Police has resulted in a significant drug seizure and the arrest of a suspect, authorities announced. The operation netted an estimated $1,600 in cash and illegal drugs.

Investigation and Arrest on Tecumseh Road

According to police, the Drugs and Guns Enforcement (DIGS) unit initiated an investigation last year into a male suspected of trafficking narcotics. The investigation culminated on January 6, 2026, around 6:30 p.m., with the arrest of the suspect in the 3700 block of Tecumseh Road East. Officers were assisted in the operation by police service dog Link.

Details of the Seizure

During the arrest, officers confiscated several items from the suspect. The seizure included 6.3 grams of crack cocaine packaged in multiple individual wraps and a double-bladed knife. Following the arrest, police executed related searches at a residence on Olive Road and the suspect's vehicle.

The search of the Olive Road home yielded digital scales, packaging materials, and $60 in cash. From the suspect's vehicle, investigators allegedly seized an additional 4.7 grams of crack cocaine, another digital scale, more packaging material, and $510 in cash.

Police estimate the total street value of the drugs seized in this operation to be approximately $1,100.

Charges and a Related Incident

A 39-year-old man now faces serious charges in connection with the bust. He has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (crack cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a release order.

In a separate but related note on local drug enforcement, Windsor Police reported another significant seizure just days earlier. Following a traffic stop on New Year's Day, officers arrested two people and confiscated a variety of illegal substances. That seizure included cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl powder, crystal methamphetamine, and clonazepam tablets, along with $840 in cash and a digital scale.
