Details of the Alleged Extortion

According to authorities, the incidents occurred over an eight-week period between January and March. The primary suspect allegedly approached the employee, pressing a sharp object against his back while disclosing personal information that instilled fear for his safety. This intimidation tactic was used to force compliance with demands for new iPhones.

Multiple Incidents and Stolen Goods

Police report that the suspect and an accomplice visited the store on multiple occasions, successfully obtaining 12 new iPhones through coercion. The total value of the stolen merchandise is estimated at $24,000, highlighting the significant financial impact of the crime.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The Windsor Police Service major crimes unit launched an investigation after a supervisor reported the fraud on March 12. Their efforts led to the identification of two suspects.

First Arrest: On March 15, officers arrested a 36-year-old man at a residence in east Windsor. He faces two counts of fraud under $5,000.

Second Arrest: A second 36-year-old man was apprehended on March 28 by the problem-oriented policing unit at another east Windsor residence. He has been charged with one count of extortion and six counts of theft under $5,000.
