Peel Regional Police have charged a Mississauga man in connection with a series of alleged unprovoked assaults and rock-throwing incidents that left multiple victims injured. Kuo Yang Du, 34, was arrested on Sunday, June 28, 2026, and faces several charges including assault with a weapon and mischief endangering life.
Details of the Incidents
According to police, the incidents occurred over several days in late June, targeting pedestrians and vehicles in the Mississauga area. Victims reported being struck by rocks thrown from a moving vehicle or by a suspect who approached them on foot. In one case, a victim suffered serious injuries after being hit in the head.
Police believe the attacks were random and unprovoked, with no apparent motive linking the victims. Investigators have not disclosed the exact number of incidents but confirmed that multiple people were targeted.
Arrest and Charges
Du was taken into custody without incident following a brief investigation. He is charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of mischief endangering life, and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He appeared in a Brampton court on Monday and was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
“We are relieved to have this suspect in custody,” said Peel Regional Police Constable Sarah Thompson in a statement. “These were frightening and dangerous acts that put our community at risk. We urge anyone with additional information to come forward.”
Community Impact
The attacks have shaken residents in the normally quiet neighborhoods. Local businesses reported an uptick in concern among customers, and some parents expressed worry about children walking to school. Police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the public.
“I was terrified when I heard about the rock-throwing,” said Mississauga resident Maria Lopez. “My kids walk to the bus stop every day. I’m glad they caught someone.”
Ongoing Investigation
Police are continuing to investigate and believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. They are asking anyone who was targeted or who witnessed suspicious activity in the days leading up to the arrest to contact investigators. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be laid.
